The Killorglin Men’s Shed - Michael G Kenny

Written by

The Men's Shed movement which has its origins in Australia, has been a success in many countries throughout the world,as far afield as Australia,FInland,Greece and of course here in Ireland and closer to home in Kerry & Killorglin.
Killorglin Men's Shed opened in August 2012, it was the brainchild of two local men;  Jack O'Sullivan  & Donie O'Sullivan, and has been an an overwhelming success since it first opened it’s doors. The shed now has over 113 members and it’s own successful choir and is a popular drop in point  for regulars and

passers by in Killorglin's fair field car park.
Run by Jack O' Sullivan, it has a busy trade in bags of kindling, the manufacture of sugan chairs and stools, window boxes, and for the time of year that's fast approaching: cribs ...available in three different sizes or if you wish you can get one made to your own specifications.
Jack was also keen to point out that he's willing to carry out any project that would need his expertise in his own words:
"no job too big or too small"
Regular activities include the card games on Tuesday nights, while Wednesday night is set aside for the Men's Shed Choir for practice, the choir which has been invited to perform at The All Ireland Men's  Shed Conference in Castlebar County Mayo on November 16th next, and as well they will be performing in the INEC as part of the memorial concert for the late Aine Nic Gabhann which takes place on November 8th.
Always on  the lookout for new members for both The Men's shed and it's choir, next time you're in Killorglin why not drop in, or give Jack a call on 087 2176353, All are welcome.
