Our first taster walk on Sun 27th October was along the windswept coastline of Dunquin It was a spectacular trek along the edge of the sea as the rolling waves broke on the shore below us. Despite the conditions eleven newcomers joined us for a 2½ hour walk which began and ended in the Blasket Centre.
A 2nd taster walk will be arranged on Sunday next, 10th November. Non-members are welcome to participate on this walk which will be held in the ancient valley of Loch an Dùn on the northern side of the Conor Pass. While this is a low level walk lasting 2/2½, the route will take us over some rough and rocky terrain where walking boots or strong footwear is highly recommended.
This is another opportunity for anyone who is considering joining our club or just interested in testing themselves on the lower slopes to experience the outdoors with us.
The meeting point will be Garvey’s Supervalue at 10am or Kilmore Cross (junction on road from Dingle to Cloghane) at 10,30am. In addition to strong footwear waterproof clothing is also advised on this particular walk.
