How it Works:
Each Match is called a Score. A Score is held over 1 ¼ miles of the road- with each contestant throwing a Ból which is 28 ounces in weight. it usually takes between 16 - 18 throws to win the Score. The winner is the person who takes the least throws
The two separate camps usually gather a pot of money which is matched by each team. This is held by an independent person with the winning team taking all, less a percentage which will go to two local causes - The local Coast & Cliff Rescue and the Cailiní Corca Dhuibhne fé 13 football team.
Harry Jennings from Clonakilty who is synonymous with road bowling in Ireland has given huge support and help to get the first road bowling competition going here in West Kerry along with the help of a few locals who have a special interest in the sport.
The long term aim of the group is to hold an annual Inter Gaeltacht Road Bowling Festival here every year in West Kerry over the October Bank Holiday Weekend with teams from West Cork and Baile bhuirne
