Following the major tree felling undertaken recently by the County Council in the Town Park our Community Employment workers will be spending the next few weeks tidying up the damaged areas. Also the storms damaged the tennis court fence and some shrubs.
Our main emphasis for 2014 will be on maintaining the Mall River and the approach roads and exposing the traditional stone walls which are unique to Corca Dhuibhne. We also hope to get the owners of derelict sites to do some repair work on their unkempt premises in the next few months.A simple coat of paint would do a great job on a number of these properties in various streets.
All the successful towns and villages in Kerry and elsewhere have teams of volunteers working regularly on various projects in their own areas.
Despite our regular appeals for volunteers the response has been very disappointing and leaves our town falling further behind and our small group in serious danger of totally giving up in despair.
We now appeal to all ages to get involved and make 2014 the year Dingle people started showing pride in their town an attempted to secure continued employment and prosperity in West Kerry.
