In April 2013, more than 250 people took part in the Dingle 10km Road Race. This April, it returns to the Dingle Peninsula, on an even bigger scale. Shane Finn of WK Fitness, who pioneered the race last year, is expanding the event to cater for less experienced runners, with the addition of a new 5km run on the day. ‘Following the overwhelming turnout last year, I wanted to open the race up to more people, especially those who might not have the confidence to run a full 10km’, says Shane. ‘The races will give seasoned runners a goal to aim for this spring, and hopefully inspire new runners to give it a go!’
Registration links are available on the ‘Run Dingle’ Facebook page & Precision Timing website. Runners may also register in person on the day, however it’s advised to register early as places are in high demand. At a cost of just €20 for the 10km, and €12 for the 5km, this is an event not to be missed!
All proceeds go to Cuan Counselling, who offer both individual and group counselling for people between the ages of 12 and 25 years. ‘I chose to donate to Cuan Counselling because it’s an invaluable resource to West Kerry, and is in desperate need of funding. Mental Health is a very important issue, and needs to be treated properly’, says Shane.
Set to be an action packed and fun-filled event, both races will be fully time chipped, and all participants will take home a Dingle Road Race tech running top. Entertainment and music will set a lively atmosphere, while food and beverages will be provided!
