WELCOME TO WEST & MID KERRY LIVE

THE ESSENTIAL NEWS AND EVENT GUIDE FOR THE DINGLE PENINSULA.

Kerry Trec

Written by  Pauline Lucas

TREC is a three phase equestrian discipline that is suitable for all types of horses and riders.  TREC is fun, challenging and above all, a great way to spend time with your horse.  It combines three phases; Orienteering, Control of Paces and Obstacle & Skills Test.  TREC is very versatile in that it caters for horses and riders young and old and at all levels of experience and ability. Riders can challenge themselves and progress to the highest levels in the sport, or select the level which suits their confidence and ability. Above all, it's a very social sport, providing riders with the opportunity to develop their skills in some of the most stunning settings.

Kerry TREC: Under the guidance of TREC Ireland, Kerry TREC group has been formed to develop events across this region and our aim is to really put Kerry on the map as a place where riders from all over the country and beyond want to come and compete.

Our first 3 phase competition will be on Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th April 2014 with courses set in some lovely locations among the forests, fields and beaches around Dingle.  Entry Levels from 1-3  will cater for beginners and the more experienced TREC rider and horse.  Riders can enter in pairs or individually and compete for one day or both days.  Kerry TREC also has a Junior section and we are hoping to see lots of entries from younger riders. If you are under 16 you will need to be accompanied by an adult.  We will be holding a BBQ in the evening on Saturday 5th April as a thank you to everyone who has taken part or helped support us.

Closing date for entries is: Thursday 20 March 2014.  Places will be limited due to parking restrictions.
