Lee Strand West Kerry Senior League Round 4
Annascaul 0-17 to An Ghaeltacht 2-13
The fourth round of the Lee Strand West Kerry Senior League took place this weekend. Annascaul were home to An Ghaeltacht on Saturday the 15th of February and in a thriller the visitors came away with a win on a scoreline of Annascaul 0-17 to An Ghaeltacht 2-13. With this win An Ghaeltacht remain unbeaten and on top of the Lee Strand West Kerry League with 6points.
An Ghaeltachts first half goal coming from Gearoid Mac Gearailt and their second half goal coming from PJ Mac Laimh who was making his debut for An Ghaeltacht Seniors turned out to be the decisive scores. Along with PJ Mac Laimh, An Ghaeltacht Manager Paul Quinn gave debuts to Colm Ó Beaglaoich na Feothanaí and Seán Ó Bambaire from Chathair Deargáin. Add these young players to Gearóid Mac Gearailt na Carraige who has now played three games with the Senior team and you can see the rebuilding process is well underway in Gallarus. Half time score in Annascaul was Annascaul 0-10 to An Ghaeltacht 1-7.
In a great advert for the game it was An Ghaeltacht with the ability to score goals that secured their unbeaten run in the Lee Strand West Kerry League. Annascaul will consider this game another important step in the rebuilding process with find performances by Daniel O’Connell, Emmet Kennedy, James Scanlon, Ger Farrelly, Fionn Coakley, Aidan Crean, Jason Hickson, Johnny Deane and the outstanding Eoghan O Neill. Castlegregory 0-12 to Lispole 0-9
In the fourth round of the Lee Strand West Kerry Senior League Castlegregory were home to Lispole on Sunday the 16th of February and it was Castlegregory who emerged victorious on a scoreline of Castlegregory 0-12 to Lispole 0-9. This was Castlegregorys first win of the year in the Lee Strand West Kerry League and with one round left to play could be the difference in qualifying for the Semi-finals.
Played in slippery underfoot conditions which considering the weather this last while great credit is due to all Castlegregory GAA. Lios Póil were the fastest out of the blocks when their captain Nollaig Ó hUigín pointed in the opening minute. Further points from Adrian Ó Raoil, Cathal Ó Súilleabháin and Colm Ó Muirthile put Lios Póil in the driving seat. Anton Kelliher and Brandon Hoare scored for Castlegregory and further points from Alan Fitzgerald, Brandon Hoare and Anton Kelliher left it Castlegregory 0-6 to Lispole 0-8 at half time.
Lispole scored first after half time but Castlegregory with points from Anton Kelliher and Alan Fitzgerald took control and were deserving winners. Full time score Castlegregory 0-12 to Lispole 0-9

The 5th Round of the Lee Strand West Kerry Senior League will continue on the weekend after next – the 1st and 2nd of March. In this Round Lispole will be home to Annascaul and An Ghaeltacht are home to Dingle. (Day and time to be confirmed).
Kerry Seniors
All in West Kerry GAA would like to say tough luck to Éamonn Fitzmaurice and his Kerry Seniors in their Allianz Football League game against Derry on Sunday February 9th, especially the West Kerry contingent of Mikey Geaney, Paul Geaney & Alan Fitzgerald. Munster Inter-Provincial Football
Kerry Senior Manager Éamonn Fitzmaurice, all his Kerry Senior Players and all Kerry Supporters must have been very happy seeing An Ghaeltachts Marc Ó Sé back in action for Munster against Connacht last Sunday the 16th of February in the M. Donnelly Inter-provincial Semi-final.
Corn Uí Mhuirí Semi Final
Well done to Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne who beat Coláiste Chríost Rí once again in the Corn Uí Mhuirí Quarter Final on a scoreline of PCD 1-13 to Chríost Rí 2-7. Following the Munster Colleges ruling Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne had to do it all again and it took extra time to separate both sides in Ballyvourney on last Saturday 8th February. Best of luck to Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne who now will play St Brendan’s (Killarney) in an All Kerry Corn Uí Mhuirí Semi-final this weekend on Sat the 22nd of Feb at 1:30pm in Fitzgerald Stadium Killarney. Last West Kerry Board Meeting
Following an EGM of the West Kerry Board last Thursday the 6th of February in Dingle’s Páirc an Ághasaigh, An Ghaeltachts Muiris Ó Fiannachta was selected as Cathaoirleach of the Bord Chiarraí Thiar for 2014, Derry Ó Murchú selected as Rúnaí and John O’Connor selected as Cisteoir, all other officers returned unopposed.
Muiris Ó Fiannachta has a wealth of experience both on and off the pitch and is looking forward to the challenge ahead. Muiris is set to build on the underage success of West Kerry of which he himself has played a very active role in. We’d like to wish Muiris Ó Fiannachta the very best in his new position as Cathaoirleach of the Bord Chiarraí Thiar for 2014.
Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta 2014
The West Kerry Board is fully supportive of Cumann Caide Lios Póil, Cumann Caide na Gaeltachta and Cumann Caide Daingean Uí Chúis representing the Kerry Gaeltacht’s should they qualify for Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta this year. Tá Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta aitheanta go náisiúnta ag Cumann Lúthchleas Gael agus tá sé thar a bheith tábhachtach go bhfuil foirne ó Chiarraí ann.

Scór Sinsear Chiarraí Thiar will take place on Friday the 7th March in Paul Geaney’s Dingle and all clubs in West Kerry are asked to make every effort to make sure that they take part. More details of Scór Sinsear Chiarraí Thiar as we get closer to the date.
Phone Watch Comórtas Peile Páidí Ó Sé 2014 – 25 bliain a’ fás
The 25th Annual Comórtas Peile Páidí Ó Sé takes place this weekend the 21st, 22nd and 23rd of February. Once again Gaelic Football Teams from all over the world will make the pilgrimage to West Kerry to play our beloved game and share in Páidí’s dream. With over 40 teams taking part this year Comórtas Peile Páidí Ó Sé has the makings of a wonderful feast of football in West Kerry. Make sure to put it in your diary as it is always a highlight of the GAA Year.
In the Senior Men’s Competition An Ghaeltacht will play An Cheathrú Rua, and Dingle will play Blessington. In the Intermediate Men’s Competition Castlegregory will play Killala, Annascaul will play Na Gaeil and Lispole will play Round Towers of Kildare. In the Intermediate Ladies Competition the Group Stages will see Corca Dhuibhne play Erin’s Own and Park Ratheniska GAA Club of Co Laois.
