CLG Daingean Uí Chúis held its annual get together and medal presentation last Saturday night in the refurbished Dingle Skellig Hotel. Guest of honour on the night was Crossmaglen and Armagh Legend Oisín McConville, Kerry County Board Chairperson Patrick O’Sullivan and Fr. Tom Looney.
With CLG Daingean Uí Chúis after winning the West Kerry Senior, U21 and Minor Championships and Cumann Peil Ban Daingean Uí Chúis with their treble winning team - Champions of North Kerry Junior League, Kerry Division 4 County League and Kerry Comortas Peil na Gaeltachta the top table was full of silverware.
Dingle GAA PRO Breandán Fitzgerald had the wonderful job of introducing the Dingle Ladies to the crowd and Oisín McConville had the envious job of presenting the very stylish ladies with their medals. Uachtarán Cumann Peil Ban Daingean Uí Chúis Máire Uí Mhurchú announced that Kate Ní Shúilleabháin was the Dingle Ladies Senior Player of the Year 2013 to tremendous applause.
Cathaoirleach Jimmy Bambury was Fear an Tí, and last years successful Manger Séamus Ó’Dubdha introduced the U21 & Senior players as Oisín McConville presented them with their medals. Colm Geaney introduced the Minor players as Kerry County Board Chairperson Patrick O’Sullivan presented them with their medals.
Séamus Ó’Dubdha announced Young player of the Year for 2013 as Jack Ó’Súilleabháin and the Captain fantastic 2013 Paul Devane was named as Dingle GAA Senior Player of the Year 2013. Last years Cathaoirleach Micheál Ó Conchúir announced that Club Person of the Year 2013 was Máire Uí Mhurchú and special presentations were made to Cristín Uí Chonchúir, Séamus Ó’Dubdha, Jimmy Bambury and Oisín McConville.
Special thanks was given to the outgoing board and John Diony Ó Conchúir for organising the evening. Cathaoirleach Jimmy Bambury also praised Oisín McConville for making the long journey to Dingle for the night. Oisín McConville in his key note address spoke about his delight in being invited to Dingle Skellig Hotel. Oisín spoke about his gambling addiction and how he had overcome it, and he stressed how important it was to always help team mates and never give up.
