In the girls’ competition, there was an exciting final between defending title holders Moyvane/Knockanure and Annascaul/Camp/Inch with Niamh Flaherty giving the champions a perfect start defeating Katie O’Connor 21-10, 21-7; and Rachel O’Connor squaring up the match by defeating Maria Kennelly 21-11, 21-11.
In an exciting doubles game, Grainne Stack Mulvihill and Ciara Hudson saw off Eimear O’Connor and Eileen McGovern 21-18, 21-14 to retain the title for Moyvane/Knockanure. Other members of the team were Aoife Bowler and Patrice Galvin.
Boys competition had six teams playing in round robin format giving plenty court time to all players.
The tournament came down to the match between Moyvane/Knockanure and the defending title holders Annascaul/Camp/Inch went on to retain their title with Gearoid Lyne defeating Liam Greaney 21-9,21-9, Killian Falvey defeating Christopher Keane 21-17, 21-10; and in the doubles Sean Kennedy & Colm Kennelly saw off Aiden Fitzgerald and Fergal Leahy 21-12; 21-13. Other valuable members of this team are James Ashe & Gavin McCarthy. Both winning teams will now represent Kerry at Munster finals on 5th July.
The 4 winning teams will now contest the County Semi-Finals on the 9th March.
Healthy Events
The Healthy Events Award 2014 is a National initiative to encourage Community Games to make their events more health-promoting in sustainable ways to impact positively on the health of children, parents and the wider community. In order to participate in this year's Healthy Event Awards, areas need to submit their interest before the 28th February.
