Best of luck to all Killorglin Rowing Club athletes racing at the St Michael’s Head of the River on Saturday, the 2nd of February. It is the first events of 2014 season for our rowers, with total of 12 teams competing on Saturday. The event is run over 3,800m stretch of water at O’Brien’s Bridge in Limerick. Best of luck to our teams, the Men’s Intermediate Men’s Coxed Four of John Buckley, Fionan Crowley, Paul Sheehan and Paul Bradley coxed by Siobhan Joy with Martin Leahy stepping in for the second run, the Women’s Senior Double of Maeve McGillycuddy and Karen Joy and our underage crews of Kieran O’Sullivan, John Francis O’Grady, Sean Houlihan, Shane O’Connor, Conor Murphy and Cathal O’Donovan competing in the Under15, Under16 and Under18 races. Kerri Fay and Emma Murphy will team up in the Women’s Intermediate race, while Emma will also race the Women’s Intermediate Single Scull. Let’s hope the weather will stay dry and it will be an enjoyable day for all. Monika Dukarska currently trains with the National Team at the National Rowing Centre in Inniscarra, Co. Cork and will represent the Club in February at the upcoming National Trials in Newry.
